Chianina cows and Cortona

In this workshop you will photograph the most famous italian cow, the Chianina. You will visit a fascinating borgo founded in the 15th century where Chianina cows are bred. After taking pictures of the animals and the borgo you will have the opportunity to taste different meats produced by the farm. We will also visit and photograph Cortona, the main artistic and cultural centre of the Val di Chiana. This lovely town is characterized by its medieval architecture and has been of inspiration to writers such as Frances Mayes for his novel “Under the Tuscan sun”. Here we will photograph the alleys, the square and the people and we will have a quick lunch in one of the many bars on the main street. From Cortona we will move to the convent “Le Celle” where San Francis lived in the 13th century.

From the intersection Chianciano, Pienza, San Biagio and Montepulciano go east toward Montepulciano. After few metres, when the road bifurcates, go left and take Via San Pietro, which goes up. After about 200m take the first road on the left and you will be in Via dei Filosofi. The parking lot is about 100m up, the first on the left.
